Uniquely Imperfect, Uniquely Qualified

1.9 million diagnosed with cancer in a year.  Not everyone has medically diagnosed cancer - but over 50% of Americans struggle with being stuck and focused on their imperfections.  Some pivotal moments in my early life - grandmother, team sports, college injury, divorce, executive lessons - connected me back to Victor Frankl’s valuable lesson; no matter what happens to me, no one can steal my power to choose my response. 

In my year of 40, I was first diagnosed with a rare form of cancer near my eye.  A single mom of 2 young boys, my first response was "Ugh - why now, why me".  An angel in my life quickly shifted me to "okay God - why me - who do you need me to be a light too".  9 years later, my doctor is in tears letting me know we are shifting from saving my eye to saving my life. I’ve lost count of the # of surgeries, # of doctors, # of stitches, - what I do know is that our adversities and imperfections can uniquely qualify us to add value to others if we shift to from self to serve which allows us to shine in the darkness. I’ve learned that my new look is a bit unique and memorable, and my goal is for this book to spark memories and reflection to help others move past adversity to serve and shine. Friends, join on this journey through my story to find the light in your story. Each chapter will close with reflection questions to bring out the power in your story, in your moments. Be prepared to smile, laugh, and cry. Cancers and adversities may hit us along the way… we can still thrive and add value to those around us.
